Again David gathered all the choice men of Israel,
thirty thousand.
And David arose and went with all the people who
were with him from Baale Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, whose
name is called by the Name, the Lord of Hosts, who dwells between he cherubim.
Now there was a famine in the days of David for
three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. And
the Lord answered, "It is because of Saul and his blood-thirsty house,
because he killed the Gibeonites." (2
