Chapter 1
- Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ
by the
will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ
Jesus, (Titus 1:2)
- To Timothy, my beloved son:
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
- I thank God, whom I serve with a
pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember
you in my prayers night and day, (Acts 24:14)
- greatly desiring to see you,
being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy,
-
-
-
-
- who has saved us and called us
with a
holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own
purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time
began,
(Rom. 8:28; Eph. 1:9; Eph. 2:8)
- but has now been revealed by the
appearing of
our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and
immortality to light through the gospel, (Eph. 1:9; Heb. 2:14)
- to which I was appointed a
preacher,
an apostle, and a teacher of the gentiles. (Acts 9:15)
- For this reason I also suffer
these
things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed
and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him
until that Day. (John 10:14;
1 Pet. 4:19)

Chapter 2
- You
therefore,
- If we are faithless,
- And their message will spread like
cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, (1 Tim.
1:20)
- who have strayed concerning the
truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow
the faith of some.
- Nevertheless the solid foundation
of God
stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His,"
and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
(Ps. 4:3; Nah. 1:7; John
6:37; 1 Cor. 3:11;
Matt. 7:23)
- But in a great house there are not
only
vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honour
and some for dishonour. (Rom. 9:21)
- Therefore if anyone cleanses
himself
from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful
for the Master, prepared for every good work. (Prov. 25:4; 2
Tim. 3:17)

- But

- and that they may come to their
senses and escape
the
snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his
will. (1 Tim. 3:7)

Chapter 3
- But know this, that in the last
days perilous times will come: (1 Tim. 4:1)
- For men will be lovers of
themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient
to parents, unthankful, unholy,
- unloving, unforgiving,
slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
- traitors, headstrong, haughty,
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, (2 Pet. 2:10)
- having a form of godliness but
denying its power. And from such people turn away!

-
- and that from childhood you have
known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for
salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (Ps. 119:99)
- All Scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness,
- that the man of God may be
complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 2:21)
