Chapter 2
- Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy
mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble;
(Jer. 4:5) for the day of the Lord is coming, for it is at
hand: (Obadiah 15)

- "Now, therefore," says the Lord,
"Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with
mourning." (Jer. 4:1)
- So rend your heart, and not your
garments; return to the Lord your God, (Gen. 37:34; Ps. 34:18; Ps. 51:17)
for He is gracious and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from
doing harm. (Ex. 34:6; Hos. 14:1)
- Who knows if He will turn and
relent, and leave a blessing behind Him (Jer. 26:3;
Hag. 2:19) - a grain offering and a drink offering (Is. 65:8; Joel 1:9;
Joel 1:13) for the Lord you God?
- Blow the trumpet in Zion,
consecrate a fast, (Num. 10:3) call a sacred assembly;
- Gather the people, sanctify the
congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing
babes; let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from
her dressing room. (Ex. 19:10; Ps. 19:5)
- Let the priests, who minister to
the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar; (Matt. 23:35) let
them say, "Spare Your people, O Lord, and do not give Your heritage to
reproach, that the nations should rule over them. (Ex.
32:11-12) why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their
God?'" (Ps. 42:8)

- "And it shall come to pass
afterward (Ezek. 39:29),
that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh (Zech. 12:10); your sons
and
your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your
young
men shall see visions; (Prov.
1:23; Is. 54:13; Acts 21:9)
- And also on My menservants and
on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days. (Gal. 3:28)
