Luke 2


  1. And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Agustus that all the world should be registered.
  2. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.  (Acts 5:37)
  3. "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.  (Is. 9:6;   John 20:31)
  4. "And this will be the sign to you:  You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, laying in a manger."
  5. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.  (Gen. 37:11;   Ps. 119:11)
  6. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told to them.
    1. A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
      and the glory of Your people Israel."  (Is. 9:2;   Is. 42:6;   Is. 49:6)
  7. Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher.  She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;  (Joshua 19:24)
  8. and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fasting and prayers night and day.  (Ps. 27:4;   1 Tim. 5:5)
