Luke 4

  1. Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the spirit into the wilderness,
  2. being tempted for forty days by the devil.  And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.  (Ex. 34:28)
  3. and the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."  (John 20:31)
  4. Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.  (Matt. 4:24;   John 4:43;   Acts 10:37)
  5. And He taught in the synagogues, being glorified by all.  (John 18:20)
  6. And He  began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."  (Acts 13:29)
  7. So all bore witness to Him, and marvelled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth.  And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"  (Ps. 45:2;   John 6:42;   John 7:27)
  8. Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way.  (John 8:59)
  9. Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths.  (Matt. 4:13)
  10. And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.  (Matt. 7:28&29;   John 4:41;   John 6:63)
  11. Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place.  And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them;  (Mark 1:35 - 38;   John 6:24)
  12. but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent."
  13. And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.  (Matt. 4:23)
