A Psalm of David
- Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who
trains my hands for war, (2 Sam. 22:35) and my fingers for
battle. (Ps. 18:1; Ps. 18:34)
- My lovingkindness and my fortress,
my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take
refuge, who subdues my people under me.
- Lord, what is man, that You take
knowledge of him? (Job 7:17;
Job 14:3; Heb. 2:6)
- Man is like a breath; His days are
like a passing shadow. (Job 8:9;
Job 14:2; Ps. 39:11)
- Bow down Your heavens, O Lord, and
come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. (Ps. 18:9; Ps. 104:32)
- Flash forth lightning and scatter
them; shoot out Your arrows and destroy them. (Ps. 18:13-14)
- Stretch out Your hand from above;
rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of
foreigners, (Ps. 18:16;
Ps. 57:3)
- Whose mouth speaks vain
words, (Ps. 12:2) and
whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
- I will sing a new song to You, O
God; (Ps. 33:2-3; Ps. 40:3) on a harp of ten
strings I will sing praises to You,
- The One who gives salvation to
kings, who delivers David His servant (Ps. 18:50) from the deadly
sword.
- Rescue me and deliver me from the
hand of foreigners, whose mouth speaks vain words, and whose right hand
is a right hand of falsehood --
- That your sons may be as plants
grown up in their youth; (Ps.
128:3) that your daughters may be as
pillars, sculptured in palace style;
